Feeding Directions
Daily lbs. fed per 100 lb. BW Mature Horses: Maintenance/Early Gestation 0.30—0.50 Light Work/Last 1/3 Gestation 0.60—0.80 Medium Work/Lactation 0.75—1.00 (3 Months—Weaning) Heavy Work/Lactation 1.00—1.40 (Foaling—3 Months) Growing Horses: Weanlings 1.00—1.50 Yearling 0.80—1.40 2-Year-Olds 0.60—1.00 Horses should consume a ration of long stem roughage (hay) equaling 1 to 1.50 lbs. per 100 lbs. of body weight daily. Feed at a regular time each day and split feedings into two separate feedings. Do not feed more than 0.50% of body weight at each feeding. If you are feeding more than 0.50% at each feeding switch to three feedings per day. Provide free choice fresh, clean water at all times except to hot horses that have just been exercised. Offer salt free choice at all times and Big V 12:12 Horse Mineral can be fed if desired. Bring horses on to this feed gradually over a 10-day period to give the horse’s digestive system time to adapt to the new ration.
